The Elementary Beliefs of
The Pilgrim Bible Society
This is a statement of our basic beliefs.
Christians who vary on points remain in fellowship with us
but for ministry we hold in agreement to these to be united (1 Corinthians 1v10)
and work together successfully to spread the Gospel of Christ Jesus and disciple believers.
We base everything on the Holy Bible, both Old and New Testament, but not including the Apocrypha.
We do not rely on translations but refer to the original languages in which the Holy Scriptures were given whenever possible.

What is the Bible?
The Scriptures we call the Holy Bible are God’s message to mankind that he gave to men in the past. It is:
INSPIRED - God put the message in the prophet’s heart to speak or write.
2 Peter 1v21
INFALLIBLE - a message without fault and completely trustworthy It can not be wrong.
Psalm 33v4 and Proverbs 30v5-6
ALL SUFFICIENT - everything we need to know to get saved and to live our lives as God wants us to.

Who is God?
יהוה
There is only ONE GOD who is true and living.
Anything else called God or a god is false.
Deuteronomy 6v4 and Mark 12v29.
He calls himself "I AM" and by us he is called “HE IS”.
The Hebrew for “HE IS” is YAHWEH, sometimes said Jehovah.
He gave this title to Himself when He spoke to Moses.
Exodus 3v14-15
This One God is revealed in Scripture as THREE PERSONS:
Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
"God" usually refers to the Father. Jesus is God the Son.

ALL MANKIND sins against God, so needs to be saved
(to have their relationship with God restored).

Saved means to have your sin taken away so that you can start to have a right relationship with God and can start to live the life that is pleasing to God. We are saved from sin, not just Hell.
Faith means to rely on, trust, be totally dedicated and cling to.
ONLY JESUS can save from sin. The Christ Jesus we speak of is Jesus of Nazareth, God the Son, who died and rose again to take away our sin just as the Old Testament said he would.
